Wheeeee! It's the end of April, and I'm just getting around to posting a blog. I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago, but I forgot to go back to it. This should be a quick since I don't have much to update on. I'm still whiling away on the second book in the Detective Miller series. I'm going to be real, I can never remember what I call this series.
The first draft was supposed to be finished at the end of April, but that came and went, and now I'm looking at end of May, which is fine since I've decided there will be nothing published this year. If I do manage something, it'll be like the remaining five seconds of 2022, which I doubt will happen.
Outside of that, I just re-watched Scandal, which if you haven't watched it before, I highly recommend it. It is such a delightful, fast-paced show with high-stakes in every season. Also Olivia Pope is fcking amazing and a fashion Icon. With this being said, of course I was inspired to write a Scandal-esque story, including a messy romance storyline. I'm talking so messy y'all probably won't want the main character to be with either of her love interests, and I'm okay with that. It gives me the warm and fuzzies just thinking about it.
I just started plotting it but it's at the super early stages. I'm going to plot this one a little different and see if it helps with my writing process. I'm a pantser and when I get to a rough spot, I start outlining. Last few stories, I've also just been doing really loose and basic outlines. However, this time, I'm going to break it down to every level because I love writing these type of stories, and since I'll be doing an homage to a Shonda show, I'm going to make sure everything is on point. So, I've got an overall summary, a detailed explanation of plot one, an explanation of the sub-plot, a detail of relationship one, and a breakdown of relationship two, then how it all will play off each other, but I think I'm just going to pants that part. That's when the fire comes, where I'm just writing with a conscious stream of thought.
As you can tell, I'm excited to get to work on this one. I know I've got some other things I need to take care of, but this one will be simmering on the back burner and I'll serve it up when it's good and ready.
Outside of works in progress, I'm going to do some updates to the website. I'm contemplating a book sale, but I haven't figured out how to do it. I'll figure it out at some point. Maybe a Pride month sale because everyone could use a bit of queer fiction in their lives.
All right, this is all I have. Remember to rate and review your books, especially the ones by self-pubbed and indie authors.
